Located in the centre of the village of Chiflik and 100 metres from the Chiflik Hills Family Hotel is a historical house museum.
It has been preserved since 1876 when the Bulgarian revolutionary Todor Kableshkov was captured with his Chetta and brought to the inn where they were held for 2 nights before being taken to Lvov prison to be executed. The interior of the house is remarkably well preserved and shows the traditional style of living of the period.
Admission is free. Everyone is welcome to visit and learn a little more about our history.
The monastery, the third largest in Bulgaria, is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Cherni Osam River near the village of Oreshak, 10 km from Troyan. It was founded around 1600 (by Abbot Calistratus), probably earlier.
The legend says that monks from the Holy Mountain went to Wallachia with the monastery's shrine - the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of the Three Hands, which is a copy of the old miraculous icon in the Hilendar Monastery (14th century).
Near the Troyan Pass is the monument "Arch of Freedom" - on the Goraltepe Peak (1595 m), 15 minutes east of the highest point of the Beklemeto Pass. The monument is a massive concrete structure 35 metres high.
The arch is dedicated to the "Russian and Soviet liberators". There is a narrow tarmac road to the south side of the ridge. The monument is located in a place from which one can see to the north the valleys of Beli Osam and Troyan, and to the south the Sredna Gora, the Rhodope Mountains and the Rila Mountains. In the other two directions - east and west - you can see the most famous peaks of the Balkan Mountains, including the highest peak Botev.
Right at the end of the village of Chiflik, there is the eco-trail "On the way to the Edelweiss", which leads to the "Central Balkan" reserve. This trail goes from 870 to 1600 m above sea level.
There are several routes of varying degrees of difficulty, offering hikers different opportunities to reach this exceptional place. The place where Todor Kableshkov was captured is near the Hajdushka Song hut.
One of the most attractive attractions in Cherni Osam is the Natural History Museum. It was founded in 1956 by the local biology teacher Ilia Hristov and his students. In 1977, the collection was moved to a specially adapted building, and in 1992 it was given the status of a natural history museum.
The spirit of the Central Balkan Mountains is captured in the museum's three halls. There are more than 700 stuffed animals from the forests, peaks and rivers of the mountains. The most entertaining is the entertainment hall. It contains different mammals and birds, carnivores and herbivores. As visitors walk past the exhibits, they can hear the sounds and songs of each mammal, reptile and bird.
There are comfortable mountain terrains for winter and summer hiking, west to Kozia Stena, Hajdushka Song, Echo and Mount Vezhen. On the Mother of God Troeruchitsa, which is a copy of the old miraculous icon in the Hilendar Monastery (XIV century).
Numerous hiking trails and ski slopes make this area an attractive tourist centre in all seasons. Beklemeto has the best biathlon and cross-country skiing track, approved by the international biathlon and cross-country skiing organisations, with lengths of 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 km. The three tracks with a total length of about 2 km. have lifts and meet the standards for alpine skiing, and there is also a topographical map for summer ski orienteering with a route of 120 km.
